In continuation with Self travel itinerary Singapore – Day 1

This day started off by heaving a sigh of relief having found our missing luggage at the hotel reception.

We were ready at around 7:00 am to begin with our journey towards discovering Singapore’s tourist attractions namely, Singapore Zoo, Jurong Bird Park and Singapore’s Night Safari.
In order to explore the above attractions, we had done with online booking of 4-in-1 park hopper tickets the previous day itself. Online booking will not only keep you at par of waiting in queue at the ticket counter upon reaching desired location but will also benefit you in getting a discount of 10% on every hopper ticket.
The park hopper tickets can be booked online by visiting below website.
Above mentioned tickets are available in the form of package i.e. either a 4-in-1 package which will include all the four attractions namely Singapore Zoo, Bird Park, River Safari and Night Safari or a 2-in-1 package which includes exploring either of the above four options. Tickets may also be booked for each individual park separately.
Considering the discount rates, it is best to opt for 4-in-1 hopper pass rather than going for booking of each park separately. Also, since it is feasible to cover atleast three parks in a day, booking for 2-in-1 hopper ticket may not be a wise decision. The choice however remains yours.
It costed us an approximate of $72 per head for the 4-in-1 hopper ticket.
We first started our journey with the Jurong Bird Park. For reaching here, we boarded MRT train from Bugis to Boon Lay and from there bus no. 194, to Jurong Bird Park. It took us an approximate of one and half hour in total to reach this destination.

We here explored with different species of birds by walking through the park and also watched one of the bird shows namely, The High Flyers Show(must watch). One may seek map of the park which is made available at the very entrance to understand the park route and different show timings.

It was now time to say goodbye to the bird park and start with our journey for the next attraction i.e. Singapore Zoo.
Singapore Zoo may be reached from the Bird park either by bus which is available at fixed intervals near the exit of bird park or directly via cab.
It was 1:00 pm by when we left from the bird park while bus to the zoo was supposedly to come by 1:30 pm and hence instead of waiting for bus, we opted for direct cab to the zoo. The cab costed us $20 and an approximate time of 20-25 minutes to reach there.

Upon reaching zoo, we first took map available at the entrance and then opted for tram ride for exploring with the zoo. The 4-in-1 hopper ticket is inclusive of the tram rides at Jurong Bird Park, Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Safari cruise boat ride but not the tram ride and Amazon River Quest boat ride at River Safari.

We also watched two shows here namely, Splash Safari and Elephants at Work and Play, show timings of which are made available on map.

Having completed with the Singapore Zoo, we then headed for the Night Safari which is easily accessible from the zoo by barely walking for five minutes. However, before heading for the Night Safari, we first had lunch at one of the restaurants near the Singapore Zoo.

We skipped with the River Safari considering the time constraints.
If you are planning to visit all the four parks in a day, I would recommend you to start with Jurong Bird Park followed by Singapore Zoo, then the River Safari and finally with the Night Safari.
The Singapore’s Night Safari may be covered either by walk on walking trails or by tram rides available at fixed intervals of one hour starting from 7:15 pm to 10:15 pm(last tram ride). We opted for the tram ride at 7:15 pm.
Upon finishing with the Night Safari, we then went back to our hotel(Hotel 81 Dickson) and had dinner in nearby restaurants to the hotel.
